Vertu Ascent Ferrari 60

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Ferrari, Vertu have produced another highly exclusive (and expensive) mobile handset. Called the 'Vertu Ascent Ferrari 60' it is modeled on the italian car manufacturers 612 Scaglietti and features a titanium shell and leather back made from the same hide as the cars seats.

Vertu Ascent Ferrari 60 will come loaded with Ferrari wallpaper and tones and is presented in a beautiful display box complete with a valve from one of the F1 cars engines.

Only 60 of these handsets will be made and the biannual service plan that comes with it offers to replace the leather whenever is necessary. It is likely purchase is by invitation only and if you have to ask 'how much' you probably can't afford it...

Vodafone offers 'unlimited' mobile music

Vodafone have reached an agreement with Omnifone to offer its Musicstation service, which the operator hopes will attract customers over the itunes service available when using the new Apple device on O2.

Musicstation offers unlimited access to a library of around 1 million tracks for a cost of only £2 a week. Songs can be downloaded over the air with either 2.5G or 3G enabled handsets and will be bundled with the forthcoming Nokia N95, Samsung F700 and Sony Ericsson W910i handsets (see right).

MusicStation includes artists from all the major record companies as well as the main independent labels. The service allows the creation and sharing of music playlists and tracks between users and because it isn't tied into a single operator or phone company, people will be able to keep their music if they change handsets or switch to a new operator.

Tuesday, 18 September 2007 owned by ConnectU?

Earlier today I accidently stumbled on something... Now it's not really mobile phone based but I thought it worth bringing up somewhere since there appears to be nothing on Google that covers this at all.

Most people in the UK who have tried to access will have at some point accidently typed to find there's nothing there. Sensing a gaping hole in the web-domination of such a large site I thought I'd check just who owns the domain and discovered something rather interesting. WhoIs ResultsThe present registrant of is listed as ConnectU. It only took a second to realise where I'd heard that name before. The company who have been in legal battles with Facebook for intellectual rights!

Now Facebook was launched in February 2004 and ConnectU in May 2004, but is listed as registered by ConnectU in December 2004, long after they would have known of the Facebook name. So what's going on? How has it been ignored through all the legal proceedings and as yet escaped the attention of blogs and Google?

iPhone Confirmed on O2 November 9th

It's the morning of the "Mum is no longer the word" press conference in Regent Street, London and Apple have already confirmed O2 as their carrier network for the long awaited UK launch of the iPhone..

Scheduled for launch November the 9th for £269 inclusive of VAT, the iPhone is likely to cause just as much fuss over here in London as it's US release. Despite it's lack of 3G, O2 are hoping the last minute roll-out of 2.5G EDGE Technology will keep the data-users happy and maintain the momentum this phone has already gathered.

Apple iPhone announcement tomorrow?

Following the recent news about O2 winning over Apple with an unbeatable loss-making bid, iPhone fans are eagerly awaiting news of the UK launch date to finally get their hands on the most hyped gadget of the year this side of the pond.

Rumours have spread of an announcement before the end of the month, and the rush of O2 to equip their network with EDGE technology (the iPhone's top data-speed standard) helps confirm that these rumours may just be true.

The clincher though is Apple's recent communication with many in the Technology News sector, stating simply that "Mum is no longer the word" and the time and location of a press conference in the Apple Regent Street store in London tomorrow (Sept 18th) at 10am.

It is expected that tomorrow's press conference will confirm officially the role of O2 as main distributer, along with an announcement of when and where they are going to be sold... More tomorrow!

Motorola Z10 due in October on O2?

Maybe a slip-up or a tantalising teaser by O2, but for what little time it was up, the Motorola Z10 announcement on the O2 Coming Soon page was quickly snapped up and spread around the internet.

Quoting a 3.2 Megapixel camera with full-rate 30fps video, the Motorola Z10 appears to be aimed mainly as a camera upgrade of the Z8 over anything. 3G support will see good data speeds for net users and suggests it has twin cameras, although as you can see above, the only image released doesn't hold any clues...

Will we see the Z10 in October? It seems a little unusual to go from first glimpse to the shelf so soon, and it is quite possible that O2 pulled the advert because as yet, they themselves don't know, but October is what has been said so it won't be too long until we find out...

Nokia N95 8GB

With an announcement of how the Apple iphone will be sold in the UK market due very soon, Nokia have wasted no time in updating its flagship multimedia phone, the N95, to compete. As the name suggests the N95 8GB sports 8GB of in-built memory as well as an improved 2.8 inch QVGA display and some cosmetic revisions to the buttons to allow for the larger screen. We think it looks pretty cool in black, but then so does its main competitor... let battle commence!
