Text messaging popularity still on the increase

Forecasts by analysts Gartner Inc. predict mobile phone text messaging is set to increase from last years worldwide total of 1.9 trillion messages sent to around 2.3 trillion, an increase of over 19%.
The Asia Pacific region are currently leading the way, accounting for 1.5 trillion messages sent in 2007.
Naturally revenue will increase alongside this from a 2007 total of $52 billion to an estimated $60.2 billion.
Interestingly Garner predict an eventual decline in mobile phone text messaging as instant messaging and push e-mail become the favoured way to communicate.
