Yahoo unveils a development platform of its own

Yahoo has announced its own software developer platform for mobile internet applications to rival Google's android software previewed two months ago.
Yahoo says it's platform is aimed at developers and publishers who want their applications to run on many different handsets. Yahoo hope to make money from distributing advertising on some of the new applications that are developed on the platform and plans to offer the software free of charge to developers.
