LG KF510 Released

Fans of earlier LG slide-phones such as the Chocolate and the Samsung E900 will immediately see a resemblance in the LG KF510, except with the slightly more modern finishing touch of an animated touch-panel, giving it that little bit more style.

Looking at the LG KF510 in detail, at first the phone looks fairly generic, with good features but nothing that really stands out. Some of the features it includes are a 2.2 inch 240 x 320 pixel screen, 3 Megapixel camera with Flash and Autofocus, a music player with FM radio and Mp3 control and memory expansion support in the form of up to 2GB microSD cards.

All of the KF510's features come together however with some nice little touches that make it more of a users phone than an ornament. For example, the slide-out buttons for those who like to feel what they are pressing and an environmental brightness sensor that saves battery by dimming the screen in dim light, yet keeps it visible in bright light.

Rather than cutting-edge, the LG KF510 has the definite feel of a refinement on an existing set of ideas. A lot cheaper than the first time around and with more insight into the design it may not be going anywhere remarkably new, but has the makings of a phone that will appeal to many across the board.

Samsung F490 Out Now

The latest in Samsung's lineup of 5 Megapixel cameraphones, has been released in the form of the Samsung F490, a full touchscreen device with a large 3.2 inch display. Full touchscreen devices often lack the tactile comfort of buttons, knowing where each one is as you run your finger over them, so Samsung have included a haptic-feedback system in the F490 allowing you to "feel" your way through the Croix interface with vibrational feedback.

Datawise the Samsung F490 is top of the line, with HSDPA 3G technology and EDGE to fall back on, the F490 is fully capable of utilising mobile broadband speeds. Back in the home, or for sharing with friends the standard Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 provide top local data-transfer speeds. Storage on the F490 comes in the form of 130MB on-board provided memory and a microSD slot supporting up to 2GB cards for additional memory.

If you are in the market for a high-spec cameraphone but like the style of the iPhone then the Samsung F490 is a good contender in the field but a lot easier on the wallet!
